The Men’s Oakwood Niners Golf Association known as the “Lakers Niners” is a nine-hole golf league.  Members play a weekly tournament at one of the three Oakwood golf courses under the USGA Rules and Handicap guidelines.  Our membership is open to all male residents of Sun Lakes.

The Annual membership runs from April 1 to March 31, costs just $80.00 and supports the weekly prize fund as well as two luncheons – The Welcome Back Luncheon in the fall and the annual Business Meeting and Awards Luncheon in February.

During the year the members play low net golf tournaments as well as a selection of other games to maintain member interest.  Besides adding some fun and variety to the play day, games test all of your golf skills:  drives, putting and the “short” game in new ways.  Weekly prizes are awarded to winners in the form of “chits” which are redeemed for merchandise or green fees at either of the Pro Shops.

Our association focuses on fellowship, good sportsmanship and fun.  We strive for the pure enjoyment of the game, played in the beautiful scenery of Arizona; rather than the perfect golf game – that we leave to the “Pro’s”.

Following the game, members gather at the Poolside Café.  We all sit together so that we can enjoy the fellowship (and hear the stories).

Members range in age from the mid 50s to the low 90s!  Skill levels are reflected by individual handicaps for each of the Oakwood courses.
